Trees are one of our most valuable resources. In addition to providing shade and beautifying our streets our urban trees capture and clean stormwater runoff, remove pollution from the air, store carbon, and produce oxygen. Trees have been proven to reduce stress and improve concentration. Our trees improve our communities.
StreetsLA has contracted Davey Resource Group to conduct the first inventory of our 700,000 street trees since the late 1990’s. Davey’s licensed arborists will visit and assess each street tree, stump and vacant planting location. This inventory will help to strategically manage our Urban Forest, identify planting opportunities, calculate tree related benefits, and will be continuously updated with ongoing forestry activities.
Information about each street tree will be available to the public online, on a mobile-friendly website, and integrated with the inventory of trees in the City Parks done by the City’s Department of Recreation and Parks.
The data collected by Davey will include:
• Tree Location
• Tree Species
• Tree Size
• Distance from other Infrastructure
We invite you to explore explore the inventory of trees on streets and in parks.
The Tree Inventory is being conducted Citywide, by Neighborhood Council area. In addition to the tree locations posted on the Inventory map, a Tree Inventory Report will be provided for each Neighborhood Council shortly after the completion of field work. Tree Inventory Reports are available on this website and linked by Neighborhood Council in the schedule below.
